Lev, the imaginative dimensions of your Virtual Community are pleasingly worked out! For example, the use of the colour red -- it appears in your low-rez virtual world "mansion" prototype, and is carried through the faux-documentation of jammers participating in sessions. Red holds the world together, creates a sense that this place might exist. The interesting part is, you probably could make something like this work using a combination of SL and iChat and a couple of physical music studios. Would be fun to try.
To take this Virtual World the next step, I would attempt a prototype that allowed for real-time collaboration, using any of the network and telepresence tools mentioned above, or others -- doesn't have to be the newest gear. You could have interesting results with speakerphones, webcams and tape recorders...
I think the future is usually low-res and monochromatic -- JD
