According to the recent blog entry in World Changing about The Business of the Social Graph, Ning is going to kick Facebook's ass.

This is great, but I don't believe that Ning will completely trump Facebook, because Facebook is established, and people are comfortable with using Facebook. On the other hand, I feel that my group on Facebook called CAASA Discussion Forum is not represented as professionally as it could be on a well-designed website, so am thinking of removing it to spend time designing a website rather than time on the facebook group. The Ning platform also doesn't look much different than Facebook's group system, besides the more simplistic layout and fancy colours. Facebook was at it's best when we all first signed on and didn't have access to fun wall, super wall, super smack etc., and all of these time-wasting and poorly designed applications. Nevertheless, there are a lot of groups already on Ning! It's hard to keep up!! "NEW" is trendy on the web and it makes me want to go to the site because of its newness. Thanks for sharing this Ghazaleh.
An amazing aside -- for me, anyway. My grandmother's name was "Ning". I never thought one day she'd have such a prominent namesake!
that's pretty cool Judith!
Bryn, thanks for the comment. I really suggest you start using Ning for your forum, it's very very effective.
Here is what I started for the Think Tank project which I am continuing next semester as an independent study. It's gather people in the Bloorcourt Village community to have a place to facilitate communication amongst all the stakeholders and people interested in taking part in the project.
If you'd like to, you can join and be a part of the project as well.
