My memory avatar was created to help my grandmother with her alzheimer's. The avatar's name is Goldie and on secondlife her name is Goldie Oldrich. The avatar is basically used as a memory bank of events, people and experiences that happened throughout her life.

This is a wonderful avatar, and a sweet hopeful vision of what a virtual character could provide in the way of emotional reassurance to someone living with profound difficulty relating to the future. I really hope you can attend Guy Proulx' lecture tomorrow night because he also has a hopeful vision of all the possibilities for communication with people with Alzheimers if we focus on what is possible, as opposed to the difficulties.
Another thing I like about this avatar - it is a way for your family to engage and discuss your grandmother's situation, to find how you see her, and to remember the wonderful things about her you share. So, this is also an avatar for those who are struggling with the changes Alzheimers has brought -- the avatar is a way to talk together about who your grandmother is.
I guess what I am saying is -- the avatar can be of benefit to your grandmother, but also to you and your family in coming to learn new methods of communicating and understanding and sharing experiences in the present.
The blog is a good way of including more writing and consideration. Well done.
